The right kind of addiction

This last week has been pretty good.  Got in 3 workouts with my trainer this week since we had to miss a workout the week prior.  Had a bit of a ‘am i getting sick’ scare, so spent 2 days drinking tea, alot of water, taking coldeeze so i could ward off any potential flu/cold that may have been trying to incapacitate me.  Luckily it seems i won that fight 🙂  

Workouts this week went pretty good.  Tuesday we had to cut short due to me overheating and we were thinking i might’ve been getting sick.  But for what i did do on that workout, i was in total beast mode!  lol.  I was really upset not being able to finish the full hour, but a half an hour of tearing it up is nothing to shake a stick at either.  My next workouts were on Thursday and Friday.  Thursday was leg day….i am STILL feeling the soreness a full 4 days later.  But what can i say, i do love leg day 🙂  Friday was back and arms, which was a very good workout as well.  Took a good steady pace.  I can feel myself progressing.  Weights are being increased.  Intensity is being increased.  But none of it will matter unless i put my mind into it.  Which seems to be my biggest holdback now.

I know that i can physically do my workouts…but when i just drop like a fly, its because my mind gives up.  I really am working damn hard to get in to that focused frame of mind to where i just dont even think…i just do.  I have moments of that intense focus, but i cant seem to harness it yet.  So for me, at this point, that is my biggest challenge.

This week i’ll be back on with my 2 trainer workouts on tuesday and thursday.  And at least one other workout on my own…but i really want to increase my workouts to 4 total days a week.  2 trainer days, 2 personal days.  Gosh, am i really getting addicted to this?  I think i am 😉 but it is the best kind of addiction though.  And i dont plan on ever giving it up.


Long days

The last couple of days have been long for me.  On Tuesday had a workout with my trainer, which was good and fun.  We did boxing and lots of strength cardio; needless to say i was very tired and very sore the next day.  Although surprisingly, the muscle soreness didn’t kick in until late in the day.

Yesterday though, one of my kitties, Furby, i had to take to the vet.  His head was twitching and his left eye actually changed colors.  After the vet exam, it turns out that he has uveitus, which is what caused his eye to change color (excess proteins in the fluid in his eye).  And it is a painful thing to have, which is why his head was twitching, the inflammation of his eye was pushing on a nerve causing the twitch.
For now he is on steroidal eye drops for that left eye, which so far has been helping alot.  His eye is clearing up, he is actually playful more than he has in days, and his head isn’t twitching any more.  I was very worried because my first thought was he got in to a poison or something and it was causing neurological issues.  But thank god that is not, or at least doesnt appear to be the case.
The uveitus is a symtom though of something else going on with him though.  So the vet took some blood work and i should hear the results of those tests today, which should indicate what is the underlying cause is.  Most likely it is due to a virus he had last week.  Last week he had been under the weather with a slight ‘cold’, and that virus that he had could’ve caused secondary issues.  But i will find out today what the tests show.

So yea, basically the last couple of days have been stressful for me.  Had to call in to work yesterday to take care of my cat, and had to cancel my workout with my trainer.  Now i gotta figure out when to reschedule that.

Workout #2 – First session with my Personal Trainer

So i had my second workout tonight after work.  Boy oh boy was that the most intense workout i’ve done since sophomore year of highschool (if not even earlier than that…)
I cant even recall everything my personal trainer, Ausun, had me do.  It was just one thing after another, after another….and i surprisingly, to myself, was able to keep up with it!  Though i do think he was taking it a bit easy on me since this was my first official personal training session.

Anyways, worked my legs (ouch!), arms, abs, upper back, lower back….hell, pretty much everything!  One machine that i used today for the first time that i found was much more fun than i thought it would be was the Rowing machine.  It was  such a soothing flowing, but intense full body workout that i could feel every muscle working, but it wasnt a deep burn that i’ve come to know from working out; it was quite enjoyable.  All in all, Ausun had  me workout on about 10-15 different machines; and had me do ‘step-ups’…5 sets of 20 reps….100 step ups total.  Yikes!  Those honestly gave me the biggest workout.
I dont even really want to think about how it’ll be trying to roll out of bed tomorrow…in fact, that may be exactly how i get out of bed….just roll.

But i feel good after that insane workout…and thinking about it right now…it probably wasnt as insane as i think it was, but thats how it felt to me.  Hey, everyone has to start somewhere, and some (such as myself) have a bit more work to do than others.  I definitely am not a fit person (for now).  😉

Anyways, bedtime is calling my name…very tired tonight.  Took a hot shower to relax my muscles, and massaged my legs with arnica gel and took some magnesium to help with any leg cramps/stiffness.  Either way, i know that the photo below is something i may look in to investing in….haha 😉
